History

Imaginary Gardens was founded circa 1990 under the leadership of Perrin Sue Ballenger, an adjunct professor, with the help and support of Pellissippi State writer-in-residence Edward Francisco. It has been an active literary journal ever since. The 2016-17 edition moved to a web-only version, which was a disappointment to many.

During the 2018-19 school year, with the support of the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Common Academic Experience committee, the print edition was rebooted and the development of a stronger web-based journal component was undertaken.
