On April 1, 2025, four teams from the Pellissippi State Intramural Basketball League faced off in two heated matchups, eagerly competing for bragging rights and, ultimately, a spot in the playoffs scheduled for April 29.
In the first matchup, the Zynbabwe Pistons lost to BTA in a hard-fought and spirited battle, with a final score of 48-44. The loss dropped the Zynbabwe Pistons to a 1-2 record, while BTA improved their record to 2-0, remaining undefeated. Both teams play in the East Division, with the Zynbabwe Pistons at #3 and BTA one of two teams tied for #1. If both teams continue to play at the level they played in this last game, there’s a high chance they play each other again in the playoffs to determine who will advance to the championship game.

In the second matchup, the game wasn’t as close: Splash Squad defeated Promise Land 47-36. Both teams started out slowly but ramped up the intensity in the second half. This win boosted Splash Squad to a 2-0 undefeated record, placing them at #1 in the West Division, while Promise Land dropped to #2 with a 1-1 record. Both teams have very high chances to make the playoffs.
Although all four of the teams had a roster of players with varying playing styles and skill levels, they all brought the same passion and love for the game that you would find at the collegiate level. All of the players are either current Pellissippi students or alumni. Games are held every Tuesday at the Pellissippi State Student Recreation Center on the Hardin Valley campus between 6:00 and 9:00 PM. Feel free to come and support your classmates!
